Scotland's Highland Wildlife Park has recently witnessed the birth of a rather large litter of European gray wolves: a total of five pups belonging to this species were born here, making mother Elara and father Puika quite proud.

In the past, gray wolves used to roam the wild areas in this part of the world.

However, as human society continued to grow, this species found itself having to make the most out of ever shrinking territories.

Therefore, zookeepers hope that these five pups will help raise awareness about the need to protect this species, more so seeing how most of the people who visit the Highland Wildlife Park come here especially to see them.

Apparently, said baby gray wolves are made even more special by the fact that they represent the first successful litter the zoo has seen in well over 12 years.
