A lot of packages have been updated, removed and introduced in this beta version

Scientific Linux, a recompiled Red Hat Enterprise Linux put together by various labs and universities around the world, has just reached version 6.2.

Scientific Linux 6.2 Beta 1 introduces and updates lot of applications, and it brings general improvements, as well as bug fixes.

Developers of Scientific Linux also choosed to remove a lot of unwanted and deprecated packages, such as RHN tools, vdsm (Virtual Desktop and Server Management Daemon ).

They've also added some i686 packages for the x86_64 tree in this development release. A complete list of changes can be found in the official announcement.

Download Scientific Linux 6.2 Beta 1 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
