Scientific Linux 5.1 Live CD/DVD Available

After the release of the standard edition of Scientific Linux 5.1, which was made available exactly one month and 3 days ago, the development team behind this wonderful distribution is proud to announce the general availability of the Live CD and Live DVD versions. Today's release also contains a Mini Live CD with a very lightweight desktop environment, IceWM, for those of you who don't own a fast computer. The following are the major changes, compared to the previous version of the Live CD/DVD:

￭ Linux kernel 2.6.18-53.1.13.el5 (including iwlwifi WLAN driver)
￭ OpenAFS client 1.4.6
￭ update to the latest SL 5.1 software
￭ first release of Mini Live CD and Live DVD

￭ can be installed to local hard disk
￭ can be installed on USB key
￭ can be mounted over NFS (as diskless client)
