Scientists have finally found an answer to a question that's been troubling us for decades. Not to beat about the bush, they've pinned down (and shared with the public) a scientific formula for perfect cheese on toast.

Apparently, all one needs to do in order to obtain the best cheese on toast ever is place 50 grams (1.76 ounces) of sliced hard cheese on top of a slice of white bread measuring no more and no less that 10 millimeters (0.39 inches) in thickness.

The bread and the cheese must then be placed under a grill and exposed to a temperature of 115 degrees Celsius (239 degrees Fahrenheit) for precisely 4 minutes.

The distance between the grill and the cheese on toast must be one of 18 centimeters (7.08 inches).

Check out the picture below to see how the formula looks. Fair warning: some might think they're staring at equations intended to help brainiacs build a space rocket. I know I did.

The formula was released by the British Cheese Board, Huffington Post reports. Scientists reportedly came up with this formula after spending numerous hours testing and comparing cheese on toast recipes sent in by the public.
