Sci-fi Western Firefly Goes MMO

- Fox gets rid of Firefly

By: Robert Matei, Gaming News Editor

So you are a fan of the Firefly TV series. You watched all the episodes but you still want more. What is there to do?
Multiverse has the answer, as they have secured the rights to produce a MMO based on the Firefly series. As they have signed the licensing agreement with Fox, Multiverse hopes to bring this MMO no later than 2008. Little is known about the game, but according to Bill Turpin, co-founder and CEO of Multiverse, this upcoming MMO will create significant opportunities for other developers to build games and world with Multiverse tools and technology.

An episode of the Firefly series lasts some 45 minutes, but I guess that, once the MMO is up and running, you will be able to enjoy a much larger Firefly experience. The stars of the show are Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarinm Jewel Staite, Sean Maher, Summer Glau and Ron Glass. Nobody knows if Multiverse has contacted them in order to use their likenesses and voices in the game, but that would be nice. It would bring a genuine feel to the MMO.

Maybe many of you are disappointed because only 14 episodes of the series were produced. As every good thing it didn't last long. The TV series was aired of Fox from September 20 until December 20, 2002. They canceled it just in time for Christmas, probably to make room for a boring Santa Claus show.
