Schumacher Begins Psychological Battle in Formula One

The Turkish GP will be both Schumacher's and Alonso's chance to prove they are "champion material"

The battle between Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso inside the Formula One season is more interesting than ever. After holding a 25-point advantage over the German ace 4 races ago, Alonso is now only 10 points clear of the 7-times world champion.

And the Hungarian GP was a great moment to erase that point-difference for Schumacher. The German was 2nd in the race, with 5 more laps to go. Alonso was already out of the race and, by finishing second, the Ferrari driver would have cut the point-difference down to 3. Instead, he decided to go for the 1st place and crashed out of the circuit with less than 3 laps to go.

Realizing that they lost a great opportunity, Ferrari will now try to make the best of it in Turkey. The 13th GP of the season will go under way this weekend, and there's not a thing in the world to shatter Schumacher's confidence in a new win.

"It is time for me to re-start the fight for the title. We had a great opportunity in Hungary 2 weeks ago, but we blew it. We now have to be patient and focus on the future. I think that, if Ferrari continues to be aggressive like in the last 3 races, we have a good chance of winning the title", said Schumacher on Sunday.

On the other hand, Alonso is still pretty confident in his car, despite the fact that he failed to win a race in the last 4 GPs. Although everybody seems to be betting on Schumacher these days, the Spaniard assured his fans that he won't let go of his title that easy.

"I am still the first in the standings and things got better with the team. Renault is now in its best parameters and we are very confident in these last 4 races. The Istanbul race resembles the Belgian GP a lot, since there are a lot of moments when you can attack. We will have our chance in Turkey".
