There have been countless reports about schools adopting tablets to get the mojo back into the class rooms, for a while now. Mostly in the spotlight was Apple, but the field reality seems to indicate a totally different scenario.

It appears schools are shunning Android and iPad in favor of, well, Windows 8 slates, reports DeveloperTech. It’s not about educational content actually, because Microsoft doesn't excel much there yet, but how easy it is to integrate new tablets into the already existent ecosystem.

Let’s face it, educational institutions like schools and universities are reeking of Windows gear. Overhauling the system by bringing in devices that run something else might be time consuming and not really cost effective. Not to mention that educational establishments tend to use Microsoft Office a lot.

A number of school districts across the US have been reportedly using Windows 8 Dell’s Latitude 10, but it’s a mystery why Microsoft hasn't jumped on-board by trying to make itself a real presence with its range of Surface offerings.
