
Martin Sheen may have become famous for his parts in 'Apocalypse Now', 'Wall Street' and 'West Wing', but his next project will include a lot more studying that learning lines and getting into character for a role.
The actor has enrolled for a degree in English literature, philosophy and oceanography in his mother's native country. The National University Ireland in Galway confirmed that Sheen is enlisted for the classes that are to start this September.
The veteran star said, a long time ago, that he plans to finish his education after retiring from showbiz and that he never got the chance to obtain a high school diploma. The National University Ireland already conferred him an honorary degree for his outstanding acting career and for 'his consistent and meaningful engagement with civil society'.
Ramon Estevez (Sheen's real name) is an active supporter of the liberal cause and has participated in many public protests and campaigns as spokesperson. His police record stands as proof for his level of commitment, as he has been arrested more than 60 times during various protests.
