Schenker, a German computer manufacturer, has just announced the introduction of a new family of gaming notebooks that feature Sandy Bridge processors, Nvidia discrete graphics and 15.6 or 17.3 inch screens.

The new notebook models are split into the A500 and A700 series, according to the screen size of the unit, but all the them offer the same features and connectivity options.

As mentioned earlier, the Schenker A-series laptops are powered by Intel's second-generation core processors, also known as Sandy Bridge, and users are able to choose from no less than eight different CPU models.

These include various Core i3 and Core i5 SKUs and the most powerful chip available is the Core i7-2820QM that has a stock frequency of 2.3GHz, 8MB of Level 3 cache. The CPU is able to reach speeds up to 3.4GHz when in Turbo mode.

Graphics is provided by Nvidia and the systems are configured to sport GeForce GT 445M, GT 540M or GT 555M discrete GPUs.

The first two options come together with 1GB of GDDR3 video buffer, while the latter includes 2GB of VRAM.

The systems can also be customized to feature up to 16GB of DDR3 system memory, hybrid, SSD or regular hard drives with capacities up to 750GB, a Bigfoot 1102 Killer NIC with Bluetooth support, and Full HD resolution LCD panels with LED backlighting.

The Schenker A-series gaming notebooks feature all the standard interfaces one expects to find in such a system, but also pack USB 3.0 and eSATA connectivity as well as an HDMI video output.

A six-cell battery and Nvidia Optimus support come as standard, while the 15.6-inch A520 can even be configured with a 9-cell 7200 mAh battery pack.

Pricing varies according to the model and configuration chosen and start at €750. The most expensive option is listed at an impressive €3720. (via HardwareLuxx)
