With game graphics having evolved to a point where the game environments look more and more realistic, monitor makers are striving to keep up with the demands for higher resolutions, fast refresh rates, sharp colors and an overall better image quality. Eager to enable a higher immersion for gamers, Sceptre has just announced that it has completed the development of a number of 27-inch, 1080p, LCD, wide-screen PC monitors that aim to increase realism while gaming.

The new monitors seem to excel in all areas, be they related to image quality or power consumption. In addition to the maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 (aspect ratio 16:9), the LCDs have a 60,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (1000:1 native) and an impressive brightness of 400 cd/m2.

To this are added an amount of 16.7 million colors, a viewing angle of 170° (horizontal) and 160° (vertical), as well as 50,000 hours of lamp life. The monitors are also Energy Star 5.0 compliant and have, as I/O options, VGA, DVI and HDMI connectors. Furthermore, the displays come with 3W per Channel built-in speakers and an audio in.

Already listed by online retailers such as NewEgg and Costco, Sceptre's 27-inch LCDs carry a price tag of $399.
