Sceptre has already accustomed us with its budget-friendly HDTV's and computer monitors and earlier today the company announced that it has expanded its product portfolio with the addition of a new 42-inch LED TV, dubbed the X425BV-FHD.

Sporting a pretty simple design and construction, the X425BV-FHD is built around a proprietary LED panel with support for Full HD 1080p resolution and a fast, 5ms response time.

While these specs are certainly nothing to write home about, Sceptre's new HDTV model was designed to achieve a low power consumption and boasts with adding only $16/year to the total energy bill.

How Sceptre managed to achieve this using a regular LED panel, which are known to require more power than their LED-backlit counterparts, is however a mystery.

“Sceptre’s new 42-inch LCD HDTV comes equipped with all the capabilities to satisfy even the most demanding customers, making it the perfect alternative to pricier units,” stated Cathy Chou, vice president of operations, Sceptre.

“Its sleek design suits any décor and proves that upgrading to a big screen television does not necessarily mean breaking the bank,” concluded the company's rep.

Outside of its high energy efficiency, the X425BV-FHD also a series of other notable features, such as a 30 degrees swivel mechanism, a 7-band equalizer, 4 HDMI ports and support for the SRS TruSurround HD technology.

The latter of these was designed so that it could create a three-dimensional surround sound by using only two speakers and it also helps to eliminate the background noise, increase the dialog clarity and adjust the bass according to the type of content viewed.

The new Sceptre X425BV-FHD HDTV is currently available online at Wal-Mart for just under $370, which translates into about 273 Euros.
