The latest sensation couple to have called it quits is gearing up for a huuuge paternity battle and things are about to get more complicated than what they were until now seeing that Mel B, aka Scary Spice, aka Melanie Brown is now gracing the cover of 'OK!' Magazine, along with the child she claims Eddie Murphy fathered.
In case you don't remember or were just too busy spending your well-deserved summer vacation some place where they had no computers, the pair was first rumored to be dating in July 2006. Word had it that the Mel and Eddie were so head over heels in love that, within two weeks of hooking up, they already had each other's name tattooed on a certain part of the body. As time went by, things are said to have really heated up among the two, even if they never made their relationship public.
At one point, there was even talk of marriage and the whole world was, like, 'Whooaa! Scary Spice and the Nutty Professor! How cool is that?' but, again, the rumors were not confirmed. Then, there was talk of meeting the parents and starting to make preparations for the big day. And then came the shock: Eddie Murphy, America's favorite funnyman, telling one reporter that he'd better check his facts before going on national television and saying that he's (Eddie) the father of Melanie's child. And the world was, again, 'Whooaa! Is Mel B pregnant?'
Not a week went by and the former Spice Girl declared war on the man who had impregnated and then dumped her: he was the father and a DNA would prove that as soon as the child was born. The comedian retaliated by saying that, basically, the former singer was nothing but a slut who cheated on him in the short while they were together and who only got pregnant because she wanted to get her money-grabbing paws on his millions. Well, he didn't use exactly these words but they weren't too far from it...
The ball was now in Melanie's court and she finally made her final move: this 'OK!' interview and photo shoot. With a brand new hair color and that wonderful glow new mommies get and, let us not forget, her new bundle of joy in her arms, the star is featured on the cover of the May issue of the mag. Below her and her daughter's picture is the caption 'Eddie Murphy, meet your daughter'.
In the exclusive interview with the magazine, Mel also explains how she chose the name of the baby. She says: 'Angel, as she was my little angel through pregnancy. Iris, as it's my grandma's name. Murphy, because he's the dad. And Brown, because I'm the mum!' Scary also addresses the way how Eddie split up with her, just after she found out she was carrying his child, but insists that there's no bad blood on her side. 'He will always be a part of my life. I will always love him. I couldn't hate Eddie. We had a dream life', she says.
