Eddie Murphy is definitely Hollywood's favorite comedy actor but, with the ladies, he might not be the perfect gentleman. According to a recent report in 'The Sun' that talked to the five-month pregnant former Spice Girl in London, she wasn't even aware they were broken up in the first place.
The media began to speculate that the six-month relationship was over when Murphy appeared on a talk show for a television network in the Netherlands, saying that he and Melanie Brown are no longer an item and urging the interviewer not to jump to conclusions as to the child being his, not until it is born and a paternity test is taken.
'You're being presumptuous, because we're not together anymore. And I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir', the actor said, almost immediately going all red in the face.
The next day, he was seen at the New York premiere of 'Dreamgirls' with film producer Tracey Edmonds, who later confirmed to 'People' Magazine that they were an item. The surprising part is that Melanie Brown in London was not even aware that her man had called it quits. Even more, 'The Sun' reports that she literally went through the roof when she heard that Eddie questioned the paternity of the yet unborn child.
'There's no question that Eddie is the father of my baby. I haven't been with anyone else since I met Eddie. I'm shell-shocked by the whole thing. As far as I was concerned we hadn't really broken up - we'd just had a bit of a row.', Mel told the reporter.
Rumor has it that the fall-out might have been caused by Melanie's temper and somewhat abrupt manners, that always got in the way with her and Eddie's mother, who is sharing the house with her son.
