The curvy actress Scarlett Johansson is said to have a great voice. As a matter of fact, people say that it's so great that the Music Man himself, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber wanted her in his 'Maria' musical, after he made her sing for him in a restaurant where they were having dinner.

'We had a hysterical night which ended in the early hours of the morning. We were at the top of the Peninsula Hotel and she sang in front of everyone, which was fantastic. She can really sing. I said to her, "Do you want to do the Sound of Music?" She said yes', Webber said about meeting the 'Lost in Translation' star.

Scarlett didn't do the 'Sound of Music' after all, but it seems that the idea of singing stuck in her mind. She is reported to have just signed a record deal, in the view of promoting the album that is to come in the spring of 2007, under Rhino Records' newly re-activated label ATCO.

The album, called 'Scarlett Sings Tom Waits' is no pop endeavor, as you might have realized from the title. It features the actress singing on the lyrics and the music of the famed singer and songwriter bluesman Waits. And she does a pretty amazing job at filling in his shoes, Roger Friedman, the Fox News columnist says.

'My spies say that Scarlett has a lovely, whispery delivery that carries a tune nicely and is suited to Waits' unusual lyrics', he wrote in a recent article. Camp Johansson is yet to make a comment on what is just a rumor at this stage.
