14 DAY TRIAL // Actress Scarlett Johansson and her fiancé Romain Dauriac have become the proud parents of their first child, a healthy baby girl by the name of Rose Dorothy. The news is confirmed by People Magazine, which claims that the child was born yesterday in New York City.
The choice of the baby's middle name is explained as paying homage to Scarlett's grandmother, whom she described as “the first Francophone in my family” at an awards ceremony earlier this year. It turns out that the actress is really hoping to tap into her Francophone heritage at this point.
The news of the birth was first reported by Scarlett's publicist, who was careful to add that “mother and daughter are doing well,” which is the best kind of announcement you could get in this kind of situation.
Scarlett has been engaged to Romain Dauriac, her French journalist boyfriend, since September last year, and the couple first announced their pregnancy in March this year, at a point when rumors had already been speculating about Scarlett's growing baby bump.
“I'm very happy. Being engaged is an exciting time to enjoy and really savor,” Johansson said earlier this year. Her new engagement comes after the subsequent marriage and divorce from actor Ryan Reynolds.
The pregnancy came as an unexpected event, both for the public and for the producers of the movie “The Avengers: The Age of Ulton,” who were taken aback when Scarlett showed up to work one day significantly rounder.
Because in the movie she played the sultry spy Black Widow, known for always parading around in a skin-tight black suit, the actress had to receive several body doubles for the duration of the shoot, as well as receive a change in camera angles policy, meaning that she would be filmed from the waist up in most sequences.
The producers are also said to have spent an impressive sum of money to remove the baby bump digitally where possible, adding to the final cost of the movie. Luckily for Scarlett, filming on the superhero movie was completed without a hitch.
Understandably, Johansson took a break from acting and was spotted looking rounder than usual in New York City just last month, when she stepped out for ice cream with her fiancé.
At this point, there is no further information being released, but we are all eagerly anticipating the first photos of the Johansson baby girl.
