The latest details about the future Uncharted movie weren't exactly the best, with Mark Wahlberg still confirmed to play as Nathan Drake, but it seems that at least gamers will be able to enjoy Drake's female counterpart, Elena Fisher, who might be played by none other than the gorgeous Scarlett Johansson.

The extremely popular Uncharted video game series is getting ready not just to receive the third installment, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, but also a movie project, currently still in the scripting and casting stage.

Even if fans don't want Mark Wahlberg to play as leading man Nathan Drake, it seems that director and scriptwriter David O. Russel is still bent on working with him as well as other famous actors including Robert De Niro on the project.

According to an interview with Empire, Russel is still ironing out the story and characters, basing it on the games from the series, but also adding his custom twists.

"The game is very cinematic; there's no question about it. That's what I'm working on real hard and I'm writing it as we speak and I'm really excited to make it," he revealed.

"I'd love Mark to be in it, I'd love Bob De Niro to be in it; I love the idea of growing them into a cinematic family; I think that's a really cool idea, but... I guess you'll have to wait until you see the script," added Russell.

But the ladies of Uncharted also played a big role in the story of the past two games, so Russel is also eying actresses for the leading female role of Elena Fisher, with Scarlett Johansson being his top pick.

"Ah, Elena. I've cultivated her quite a bit and I think I've added a lot of dimension to her so that's all I'm going to say. I love the woman characters and the more robust they are, the more robust the movie," he said, saying he'd "love" Scarlett Johansson in the role.

"There's a lot of great actors I think might suit. Hopefully, we'll see how it works out with everybody who are being scoped to do that role."

It seems that none of the previous actors have concretely signed onto the project, so it's still anybody's guess about who will play who.

For what it's worth, Scarlett Johansson has quite a lot of acting skills, not to mention she will make plenty of gamers, currently upset about Wahlberg as Drake, see the actual movie.

What do you think? Would Scarlett Johansson make a great Elena Fisher? Share your thoughts below.

i dont think she would be a good part as elena . i think that emily rose would play a good part as her because she plays a good voice in uncharted games.

I am pondering not EVER watching this movie now that I know how much of an idiot is writing it. I mean really, Mark Wahlberg! Scarlet Johansson! They are both great actor but NOT for these roles. Nathan Fillion should have been Drake. And anyone but Angelina Jolie and Scarlet Johansson for Elena. Those are about the only two who look like Elena the least. And guess what! He picked one!
