Scarlett Johansson would probably be the last name to pop into my mind when thinking of actresses who are not feminine or who don't quite fit the standards. Also, her name would come up last in a list of celebrity women who look like men/boys. From all that we've seen of Scarlett, one would expect her to have a really high self-esteem but, hey, that's just me!
Scarlett is the new IT girl for 'Parade' magazine, whose cover and pages she graces. The 'Black Dahlia' star also gave a very candid interview to the mag, in which she confessed to be quite the opposite of what we see in the pictures and in the movies. Gee, the shock! No, really! The most shocking part of the interview is the one in which Scarlett tells 'Parade' about how she looks like a boy, when she wakes up in the morning and she has no make-up on.
'I don't think my features are entirely feminine. Yes, I have full lips and obviously I have no facial hair. But…take somebody like Penelope Cruz. She's so feminine. Think about it. She has, like, long eyelashes, and to me she just looks very feminine. When I wake up in the morning and I have no makeup on, like right now, I think I look like a young boy.', the actress says. Well, we could add a few things of our own to convince her that she certainly doesn't look like a boy.
Like, when you wake up in the morning and you have no make-up on and you go in front of the mirror, don't look at your face. Instead, you could focus your attention on something situated below the neck line, on that which has gotten men gasping all over the world, the two things we all love to talk about: your breasts. That should convince you that you look like a boy to the same extent that Michael Jackson looks like a man.
Of course, Scarlett was never considered a beauty like any other pretty girl in Hollywood, on the contrary, and that is her entire charm. She should stop talking like that and thoroughly enjoy her moment of glory. It's bound not to last that long. Then again, she does seem aware of it: 'It's a nice compliment [being called sexy], I guess. It's funny, because for a male actor the idea of being sexy can be very daunting. A lot of young male actors want to be chameleons and play all different kinds of characters. For a woman, I think it's always a compliment to have people think you're attractive', she also told 'Parade'.
Below are some shots from the photo shoot for the magazine. In case you were wondering, the butterfly is meant to emphasize the fact that Scarlett Johansson does NOT look like a boy.
