14 DAY TRIAL // It’s been many years that buzz about a possible Dolly Parton biopic has started making the rounds online but, so far, we haven’t seen anything concrete from all that talk. Now, Dolly herself is fanning the flames – and she’s even throwing a name of potential leading lady into the mix.
Unfortunately, it’s one that her fans hate.
“Well, you know what, I'm doing a musical of my life story – and I'm also doing a movie version!” Dolly reveals in a recent interview cited by The Huffington Post. “When we started talking about a movie, people had mentioned Scarlett Johansson. I guess she's full bosomed.”
Of course, that’s by no means a confirmation and neither should we assume that Dolly, who has so many years’ worth of experience in the industry, is naïve enough to cast an actress on the size of her breasts alone. But it was enough to get her fans inflamed.
For starters, while she does have a gorgeous figure and an ample cleavage, Scarlett is not “sunny” enough to play Dolly, they say. That doesn’t mean she’s a horrible actress (though that too has been suggested more than once) but rather that she’s more suited for other types of roles: the seductress or the silent and very dangerous femme fatale / action heroine.
Still, jumping the gun and rallying online to protest the mere possibility that she could play Dolly feels a bit excessive. We don’t even know if the biopic is really being made and, if so, when. So don’t despair just yet.
