Hammacher Schlemmer, a company that provides unique products that solve problems, has come up with an ingenious device that imports photographs and slides directly to an iPhone. It even uses LEDs that provide diffused light free of hotspots, glare, or flash burn.

Dubbed “The One Step Photograph And Slide To iPhone Converter” (clearly you couldn’t order one out loud), this portable device imports photographs and slides into an iPhone using a scanning process and a free app that automatically adjusts the size and color of pictures and slides.

The One Step Photograph And Slide To iPhone Converter lets you slide in photographs in 3x5 or 4x6 formats, as well as 35mm sides, or negatives (135 film).

The solution then takes a snapshot and instantly converts items into JPEG format to be saved into your camera roll. From there on, you can share your photos with the rest of the world and, best of all, you can back them up in the most preservable format possible.

The One Step Photograph and Slide to iPhone Converter works with iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. The iPhone 3GS and older versions of Apple’s handset are not supported, unfortunately.

"The One Step Photograph and Slide to iPhone Converter allows people to preserve memories in a digital format that won't degrade over time and eliminates the hassle of storing photographs or slides in bulky albums or shoeboxes," explained Hammacher Schlemmer's General Manager Fred Berns.

As noted above, the One Step Photograph and Slide to iPhone Converter has LEDs that provide diffused light free of hotspots, glare, or flash burn. The gizmo uses four AA batteries and doesn’t need to be tethered to an AC outlet or a computer.

The product can be ordered from Hammacher Schlemmer for $59.95, which translates into about €48.
