Columbus Short, who can be seen as gladiator Harrison Wright on the hit series “Scandal,” is now the object of a criminal investigation after allegedly beating up a man in a bar over a comment that got him very furious. This is the second time in 4 years that the actor finds himself in a situation of this kind.

Short, who has been working steadily in the industry as a dancer before he dedicated himself fully to an acting career, was accused of knocking several of a man’s teeth with just a single punch in March 2010, during an altercation at the gym.

Back then, it was his temper that got him in trouble as well.

TMZ reports that the latest incident actually occurred a couple of weeks back, at Gabe’s Bar and Grill in Los Angeles, where Short and his friends were out celebrating a couple’s engagement.

The man he punched was also a guest at the party and the celebrity publication cites insiders as saying that the argument started over a comment about money – and how much of it each brought in.

“You might be richer than me but I get my girls to buy me everything I want including your wife,” the alleged victim is said to have yelled at Short at one point during the very heated verbal argument. And that was the last thing he got to say because, the next second, the actor was already hitting him.

“An eyewitness tells TMZ Columbus then came up from behind and sucker punched the guy. The eyewitness says the man's nose was broken and he was rendered unconscious for several minutes. We're told Columbus quickly left the bar,” the e-zine reports.

In an update to the story, a photo of the victim is shown, lying on the ground, apparently unconscious, all bloodied up. Other eyewitnesses have also stepped out of the woodwork to say that, for a brief and quite terrifying while, they actually thought that Short had killed the man, because he pretty much “looked dead.”

Even worse, they say, the star did not stop hitting him even after he knocked him down, but climbed on top of him and continued to “to rail on him.” The victim is not identified by name, but the report says he’s 37 years old. He was the father of the bride-to-be who was celebrating her engagement party.

No word yet on his current condition or if he was left scarred from the alleged brutal beating he was at the receiving end of. A rep for Columbus Short refused to address questions from the media regarding the allegations.
