ThreatTrack Security experts warn users about gamerdls.com

Security researchers from ThreatTrack Security have come across a gaming website, gamerdls.com, which claims to be hosting several popular titles.

However, users who install these games don’t get what they expect. Instead, they end up with a bunch of unwanted applications on their computer.

To make everything more legitimate-looking, the site’s operators have posted user reviews from two dummy accounts.

Experts have performed their tests on Surgeon Simulator 2013. When users attempt to install the game, the installer asks them if they want an additional piece of software, such as the Delta Toolbar.

Those who don’t choose the “custom” installation method and deselect the checkboxes end up with the toolbar, which changes their homepage and search engine to delta-search.com.

The search engine is riddled with advertisements that point to scams and other malicious websites.

In addition to the Delta Toolbar, a bunch of other applications are silently installed.

Once the installation process is completed, users end up with and old demo version of Surgeon Simulator 2013 on their computers.

In order to avoid falling victim to such schemes, make sure that you only acquire games from trusted sources.
