In case you come across an email titled “suspicious contact (WARNING)” in your inbox, you should know that you’re likely dealing with a scam set up to trick users into downloading a bogus money-making app.

“Hey, Some suspicious guy who was claiming he is YOU tried to access the download that belongs to you. Make sure you access it before anyone else does: [Link].”

According to Hoax Slayer, the emails appear to come from “Customer Support.” In reality, they’re part of a campaign designed to lure users to a website that promises free access to an application that can allegedly help them get rich without too much effort.

Of course, there’s no such app. The scammers are simply using it as a ruse to attract people to their website. Once they get potential victims to their site, the crooks can try and get them to download shady apps and visit other spammy websites.

In order to avoid falling victim to such schemes, avoid pursuing offers that sound too good to be true without properly verifying their legitimacy.
