Facebook members may come across a message which advertises a cool application that changes the color of their profile from blue to pink. It’s nothing but a survey scam that earns affiliate cash for the cybercriminals.

“This new year, facebook is trying out its new version "Pinkbook", so the first 10,000 people at this event get to try it out for free!” reads the hoax

There are multiple variants to this scam, but they all have the same malicious purpose.

The pink profile doesn’t exist, but that doesn’t really matter for the crooks who earn a certain amount of money for each unsuspecting Facebook customer they redirect to certain websites.

A more sophisticated variant I found on Facebook claims that you have to invite 100 friends to the event page, otherwise the profile color change won’t occur.
