Trend Micro experts say victims are lured to shady survey websites

Trend Micro experts have discovered a YouTube video advertising a method to get the Google Glass for free.

Entitled “[FREE] Google Project Glass [FREE GOOGLE GLASSES],” the video is actually a copy of the legitimate Google Glass ad.

However, the video’s description tells users: “The future is here! Google Project Glass is Augmented Reality Glasses. The glasses is not available for public, but it’s possible to get similar glasses for free! Check it out: (link).”

Internauts who click on the link are taken to a bogus Google Project Glass website where they’re instructed to complete various surveys in order to become beta testers for the project.

Some of the malicious surveys request private information, and they even sign up victims to premium mobile services.

Users are advised to beware of such scams. Also, the official Google Glass competition has come to an end, so be sure to avoid any suspicious offers you might encounter on social media websites or in your inbox.
