Saints Row IV was launched last week, so it’s likely that a lot of gamers are looking to download the game and various cracks and key generators for it. However, experts warn that scammers are leveraging the game’s popularity.

ThreatTrack Security researchers have come across a number of videos advertising Saints Row IV downloads, cracks, and key generators. The videos are usually hosted on websites such as YouTube, DailyMotion, Vimeo, and Metacafe.

When users click the links from the video’s description, they’re taken to various third-party websites. Most of the links point to Blogspot blogs and potentially malicious files hosted on file sharing sites.

Of course, users never get the game or legitimate cracks. Instead, they’re tricked into completing various surveys – which earn the scammers money each time they’re completed.

Victims are also tricked into downloading and installing all sorts of shady software, including PDF readers, video players, and even Facebook apps.

Saints Row IV fans are advised to download content only from trusted websites. Cracks and key generators should be avoided since, in many cases, they hide some malicious element.
