Since the gates of Android Tablet heaven have really opened up in the second half of 2010, it should come as no surprise that plenty of products coming from lesser-known companies are starting to make their way onto the market, including here the device you'll read about as follows, namely the Eken M001 Google Android Tablet. As Stopwatch News reports, the Eken M001 Google Android Tablet has recently been listed at Amazon, and we'll have to admit that we're talking about a pretty affordable product, albeit not providing some overwhelmingly-impressive features or specs. The device comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen display providing a 800 x 480 pixels resolution, accompanied by a 600MHz ARM-based CPU, 2GB of storage, and an SDHC card slot for expansion. Unfortunately, as you can see, the “brains” of the table aren't particularly impressive, and that's also probably the reason why this thing only runs the Android 1.6 operating system (no word either on whether an upgrade to a more evolved version of Google's operating system will be possible or not). However, it seems that the ARM CPU is good enough to support audio MP3 playback, 3GP videos and FLV files, while also incorporating a WORD, EXCEL, MAIL &PDF reader. Similar to most other devices of this type available out there, the Eken M001 offers Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as an USB port, Stereo Audio out x1, Microphone x 1, Power in. Additionally, there’s also an accelerometer which allows the screen to auto-rotate between landscape and portrait mode, and a navigation dial next to the power button. The Eken M001 Google Android Tablet sells at Amazon for just around 175 US dollars, which is an affordable-enough price point for just about anyone interested in getting themselves a tablet without spending a really large amount of money on it.
