Jawbone launches two new wearable products

As we told you yesterday, Jawbone is ready to provide some real competition to Fitbit’s brand new products, with a couple of freshly squeezed fitness trackers of its own.

One of them is a low-end wearable aimed at those wanting a basic fitness tracker standing by their side every day.

UP Move

So the first stop is the UP Move, which will be sold for $50 / €40. For this money, customers will get a clip that can be attached or worn around the wrist if placed in a band. From there it can track your steps, exercises and calories burned throughout the day.

On top of that, it also keeps track of the number of hours you spend with your eyes shut, so it can provide data on your sleep cycle quality.

UP Move pairs up with “Smart Coach” in order to provide you with an ensemble view of all the data collected. It can also deliver personalized suggestions on how to improve your overall habits.

The UP Move tracker is available in five different colors and you’ll also get a bunch of different-colored clips and straps too, so you can combine them anyway you want.

The little device uses a standard battery that can juice it up for months on end.

UP3

Moving on to Jawbone’s more premium fitness tracker, the UP3 can be yours for $180 / €144. The newcomer is being touted as the company’s lightest and smallest wearable yet, so you shouldn't even be able to feel it sitting there on your wrist.

This is an important aspect given the fact that you’re expected to wear the bracelet day and night, if you're hoping for an accurate overview of your daily habits.

The highlight of the UP3 is the heart-rate monitor, which is apparently one of the most advanced on the market today.

Unlike most smartwatches and smartbands today that use optical sensors, Jawbone has designed its own sensor that takes advantage of bioimpedance technology.

This allowed the company to create a smaller tracker that can benefit from a longer battery life (up to seven 7 days) albeit packing a demanding sensor that can track heart rate, but also respiration rate and skin conductance.

Like the UP Move, the UP3 can also be paired with the Smart Coach that will aggregate most of the information picked up by the tracker to provide a complete overview of your life patterns.

Unlike the UP Move which is already up for grabs, the UP3 will be available in black later this year, at Apple and Best Buy. Multiple color options will be added next year.
