Carvin needs no special introduction as this name made history in the musical gear culture and has grown to be one of the legendary names in both guitar-manufacturing and instrument amplification/ PA. The guitar series from Carvin have become a milestone in instrument-making a long time ago and wherever they are present one can be sure that discerning musicians are present as well.
These days the Carvin guitars family greets their newest member: the upgraded
Contour C66M. First issued back in 2003, the C66M was from the start the deluxe bolt-on neck model of the company and one of the flagships of the entire range.
The new version differs a bit from the standard axe in a matter which only makes it more coveted and versatile. Unlike the first edition which was a dual humbucker guitar (equipped with C22 PU's), the C66M now sports a HSS configuration with the zero height-adjustment AP11 single coils for mid and neck positions and the C22B humbucker in the bridge. The classic 11-pole PU array Carvin sports as a standard on their guitars ensures you won't lose a bit of sound even in the wildest bends...and serious guitarists love that!
The Carvin TOM bridge with through-body strings provides the C66M with a stronger sustain and a more dense sound while at the same time makes sure the playability remains a top-feature. The C66M boasts an ebony fingerboard and jumbo frets, adding to the overall level of both ease of play and luxury while the Tung oil finish enriches the coloring of the Curly Flame Maple body and Hardrock Maple neck.
As a final word, the upgrade is available for the Contour C66 owners at the friendly price of $30 but if you plan to directly buy the upgraded guitar you will only pay a $20 fee and have the Carvin Custom Shop work your future axe from the beginning. The price for the already customized C66M : $979.
