Recent reports have made it more than clear that it's still a long way to go until we see the first Atom-powered Eee PC available on the market. The same goes for its direct competitors, the Wind, Aspire One and Dell's E. But, until Intel is finally ready for an Intel Atom mass production and ASUS is able to deliver the Eee PCs, you can start a budget for your future netbook, because prices for the ASUS' product
are already beginning to reach the world's markets.
As most of you already know by now, ASUS gave its Eee PC lineup the official treatment at this year's Computex show in Taipei. The company's CEO, Jerry Shen, even went as far as dressing himself as the famous adventure character Indiana Jones during the new Eee PC unveiling. At this precise moment, we are already familiar with almost everything there is to know about ASUS' Eee PC 901, 1000 and 1000(H), starting with specs and ending with the way they'll look, based on several product pictures. So, it's easily understandable why everybody is now waiting to get their hands on one of these Mobile Internet Devices.
The 8.9-inch model, dubbed the Eee PC 901, features a 1 6GHz Atom processor with 1GB of RAM memory, and either 12 or 20 GB of storage space on an SSD drive. This model can go for as much as $599 in the US, while UK users can purchase it for around £319.
With a lot more storage space and memory, the 10-inch Eee PC 1000 and 1000(H) netbooks will cost around $649. These models will come with either a Linux or a Windows operating system and can provide as much as 80GB of storage space.
According to another report concerning the shipment of the Eee PCs, ASUS is looking for batteries for its portable computer system lineup in China. The reason for which the company decided to look for alternatives in China is the shortage of power supplies.
