Say 'Bye-Bye' to Jack Thompson

- The attorney is not allowed to file lawsuits anymore

By: Calin Ciabai, Games Editor

The well known game hater, Miami attorney and "campus shooting expert", Jack Thompson is one step closer to saying "Goodbye" to the gaming industry,
since the Florida Supreme Court had him sanctioned and decided not to accept any lawsuit filings from him, from now on. While everybody agrees with this decision and I doubt there are many people who care why this happened, you should know that there is a solid reason behind this: Jack failed to "show cause", as the Court requested last month.

According to the legal document, presented by GamePolitics.com, Thompson "has abused the processes of the Court" even though, "after submitting inappropriate and pornographic materials to this Court, Thompson was specifically warned that should he continue to submit inappropriate filings, this Court would consider imposing a sanction limiting Thompson’s ability to submit further filings." And they did it. This means that the Clerk of the Court is "instructed to reject for filing any future pleadings, petitions, motions, documents, or other filings submitted by John Bruce Thompson, unless signed by a member in good standing of The Florida Bar other than himself."

Now all we can hope for is that Jack doesn't have a friend or two that are willing to help him file any more stupid and outrageous lawsuits regarding video games. Of course, this possibility still exists, but all our fears could disappear if Thompson's Bar Trial comes to a happy end for the gaming industry and a not-so-happy one for the attorney. Still, we might have quite some time to wait for the decision regarding this Bar Trial.

Strange enough is the fact that Jack Thompson was really silent following this decision, as he only described it as both "good news" and "idiotic". However, GamePolitics reports that he said that, in any event, he is entitled to make an oral argument on the matter. We're waiting – just because hearing Jack talk is sooo damn funny.
