With the launch of Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system just around the corner, PC vendors are gearing up to provide customers with updated products that will most likely be featured with the much-anticipated OS. With that in mind, Toshiba, one of the world's leading vendors of portable computer systems, has just announced the debut of its new Satellite T100 series of laptops, designed to provide users with a choice for a fully fledged notebook-class performance, at the price tag of a netbook system.

The Satellite T100 series has been designed to become available with Microsoft's upcoming Windows 7 operating system and will be powered by Intel's ultra-low voltage processors. The new series will be made available in two form factors, with the Satellite T135 boasting a display of 13.3 inches, while the Satellite T115 features a widescreen 11.6-inch display. According to Toshiba, the new series should be available soon and will provide users with fast resume times from standby mode, while the battery packs will deliver up to 9 hours of life.

The 13.3-inch Satellite T135 will include the Pentium SU4100 or Pentium SU2700 processors with support for up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, a minimum of 250GB of storage space, a 5-in-1 memory card reader and all the connectivity options you'd expect from a laptop in its class. The unit sports wireless 802.11 b/g/n with optional Bluetooth 2.1 module, a 10/100 Ethernet port, one eSATA/USB combo port with USB Sleep-and-Charge, two regular USB ports, HMDI, and built-in webcam with Toshiba Face recognition technology.

The 11.6-inch T115 ships with the Intel Pentium SU4100 or the Celeron 743 processor and support for up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM. The machine also has all of the features that have been built inside the 13.3-inch model. A 6-cell battery is said to be capable of delivering up to 9 hours of life. Price-wise, the T135 starts at an MSRP of US$599.99, while the Satellite T115 comes with an MSRP of US$449.99.
