Oklahoma is witnessing one major dilemma after the conflict on religious expression has grown out of proportions due to the Christian statue of the 10 Commandments built outside the state parliament. Enforcing their rights, the Satanic worshipers want the statue of the demon Baphomet to enjoy the same scenery in front of Oklahoma's Capitol building.

Being first taken as a prank, the building of the Satanic statue is as serious as it can get, and members of the cult are lobbying their way into religious freedom debates. The group calling themselves the Satanic Temple started fund-raising actions in order to raise enough money to build their icon.

As absurd as it sounds, the cult supporters are battling officials with powerful weapons such as the US Constitution, the 10 Commandments and their worshiped deity, the Satanic demon Baphomet. The major issue of the argument comes down to the right to religious expression in a secular state like Oklahoma.

When Christian lobbyist won the right to erect the statue of the 10 Commandments in the statehouse grounds, they never thought that the Satanists would use the same arguments in an epic struggle turned against them. The statue of Baphomet is meant to counterbalance the 2012 Christian statue built in the Capitol's yard.

The group now has over $9,000 (€6,600) raised from online donors and are planning to double the amount until the end of the year in order to build their controversial statue right beside the Christian one. The statue's design has been already released and it features a 7-foot-tall horned figure (Baphomet) sitting on a throne with one child on each side.

The most bizarre part in the design is the so-called interactive opportunity as people of all ages can sit on Satan's lap. “The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation,” Lucian Greaves, spokesman for the Satanic Temple told The Raw Story.

The Oklahoma Capitol is not at all happy with the appearance of a demon statue on their grounds even if it said to express a basic freedom. Officials are rushing towards the enactment of a temporary ban on all new monuments that might be built on the statehouse grounds.
