History Channel denies any resemblance between Satan in “The Bible” series and Obama

The latest episode of History Channel’s incredibly popular (and slightly controversial too) new series “The Bible” caused even more debate than the previous ones because of a perceived resemblance between Satan and President Barack Obama – one which isn’t even real, apparently.

After the storm of comments online, which, in all fairness, continue to come pouring in, the network has issued a statement to THR to defend the show and to stress that they have nothing but respect for the President.

“History channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It's unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. History’s The Bible is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history,” History Channel says.

Executive producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey have also spoken out on the issue, saying that Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni, the actor playing Satan, has been playing the Devil in other productions since before Obama was elected President.

Hence, the similarity could not have been on purpose.

What do you think? I buy it that the resemblance is accidental, but to deny it’s there seems a bit out there to me.
