Unparalleled situation on the country's North Pacific Ocean coast

Starting with the 3rd of June, countless shoals of sardines have begun to wash up at Ohara, one of Japan's fishing ports.

The residents of Ohara now have to deal with two major issues.

Firstly, the waters surrounding the port have turned red. Secondly, the air is becoming more and more unbreathable.

Local authorities did their best in collecting the dead fish and transporting it out of the city's limits, but it seems that they simply can't keep up with the ever increasing number of sardines that end up washed away on Ohara's shores.

The people of California were faced with a similar situation in 2011, when millions of dead fish were discovered floating in one of the state's harbors.

It is believed that the sardines died because they somehow remained trapped in an area where they lacked sufficient oxygen.
