Sarah Silverman’s humor may not be to the liking of all, but, when it comes to causing a stir, she is definitely the most likely to do so. After the series of highly popular videos of the Silverman – Jimmy Kimmel – Matt Damon triangle, Silverman has launched a new, viral campaign in which she proposes to save the world by selling the Vatican, as Gawker can confirm.

The video surfaced online over the weekend and has spread slowly since then. It’s getting, as expected, mixed reactions, with some saying that there are some topics that not even Silverman should touch, no matter how well known she is for her irreverent humor, and others claiming she’s a pure genius. It’s only normal for this to happen, since we are, after all, talking about a video in which the comedienne asks the Pope to sell the Vatican to end world hunger.

The problem of so many people who have nothing to eat could be easily solved, Sarah Silverman believes, as she reveals in the video. Since the Vatican is worth many millions of dollars and the Pope can’t possibly need an entire city to live in, the comedienne directly asks him to sell it to feed the hungry. He wouldn’t be left out on the street, though, Silverman explains, since, with the money off the Vatican, the Pope could still afford a very nice condominium with all the amenities.

Moreover, in doing so, Silverman can also guarantee the Pope that he would become the greatest hero of all times, just in case he was looking for this kind of recognition. As noted above, it’s irreverent humor and it’s meant to cause a big fuss – so far, the viral has done wonderfully on that last count. It is not yet known whether Silverman aims to do follow-ups with other videos in the same vein, but suffice it to say that, at this point, this is clearly a possibility.

Here is where you can see and hear Sarah Silverman’s “ambitious” plan to save the world and end world hunger. Some caution is advised for strong language.
