Comedienne decries tendency to knock mature, successful women down

Sarah Silverman was on the James Franco roast that aired on Comedy Central just recently but, while she’s ok with jokes on most topics, she finds it sad that some people would joke about her age.

Silverman is 42 years old but her problem isn’t that someone would joke that she’s old, but rather that these “woman-based” age jokes are used to bring down successful women.

“As soon as a woman gets to an age where she has opinions and she's vital and she's strong, she's systematically shamed into hiding under a rock,” she says in a new interview for Totally Biased.

Video of this part of the interview is embedded above.

“And this is by progressive pop-culture people!... It cut me,” Silverman adds.

She also explains that her idea of feminism isn’t “us” and “them” fighting each other, but a united “us,” with no fighting whatsoever.
