Sarah Palin would not have PETA or any other animal rights group come and scold her for posting on Facebook a photo of her son Trig using the family dog as a “stepping stone” when doing the dishes, not when they don’t know the reality of how much that dog is loved and cared for at home.

So she’s putting PETA through the paces in an open letter on social media, shaming them for turning a blind eye to real animal abuse from celebrity supporters, only because it pays not to alienate them from the “cause.”

The photo that started it all

A few days ago, Sarah posted a photo of Trig standing on a black puppy, named Jill Hadassah, while doing the dishes in the sink. In a comment, she explained that he couldn’t reach the sink, so he made the dog into his “stepping stone” and got the job done.

Trig is a kid, and from the looks of it, it doesn’t seem like Jill Hadassah was even remotely bothered by the fact that he was standing on his back. Still, PETA took offense with it and took to lashing out against Palin in public, calling her and her son animal abusers and so much worse.

They also blasted Palin for using her platform to “promote” sick images like that one, of Trig on the back of the dog, thus sending the message that animal abuse is ok.

Palin is not having it

PETA are just a bunch of hypocrites, Palin writes in the open letter, which she begins in a faux-friendly tone with “Dear PETA.” They’re hypocrites because they use celebrities to gain attention when they need it and then turn a blind eye to everything those celebrities do that goes against their principles, because they know no one would give them the time of day without those celebrities.

To prove her point, Palin cites the case of Ellen DeGeneres, who also posted a photo of a kid standing on a dog to reach the kitchen sink, and that of President Barack Obama, who once admitted to liking the taste of dog meat.

She also cites every other celebrity who claims to be a PETA supporter but wears fur coats and leather shoes and expensive handbags made from the skin of exotic reptiles.

Meanwhile, she gets flak for nothing at all – and what enrages Palin the most is that she was criticized even though PETA has no idea the kind of love and care the dog receives at home.

“Our pets, including Trig’s best buddy Jill Hadassah, are loved, spoiled and cared for more than some people care for their fellow man whose politics may not mesh with nonsensical liberally failed ways or don’t fit your flighty standards. Jill is a precious part of our world. So is Trig,” she writes.

PETA is yet to respond to this, but knowing how the group acts, it will. Soon.
