Sarah Palin, Forced to Choose Between Television and Politics

Former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin must make the decision of her life, it has emerged. With TLC yet to greenlight another season of her reality show “Alaska,” she must choose between money and a career in TV, and politics.

The first season of “Alaska” debuted to impressive ratings, but saw a decline from the second episode already. Still, overall, the show was a huge hit for the network.

An announcement for a second season has not been made yet, and TMZ reports that it’s because no decision regarding it has been reached.

Apparently, it’s either that or a career in politics for Mrs. Palin – and she hasn’t made up her mind which she wants the most.

Word has it TLC could win her over and convince her to do a second season if they threw more money at her and hope for the best, that is, hope she’ll say yes.

“If Sarah Palin’s TLC reality show comes back for a second season, it’s a sign she’s choosing a big payday over a run at the White House, Palin sources tell TMZ,” the e-zine writes.

“Network sources say TLC ‘would green light another season of Palin’s show in a second.’ The show scored huge ratings and network honchos believe another installment would be even bigger,” TMZ says.

Right now, whether she continues in television or returns to politics is entirely up to Palin. There are pros and cons to both sides, TMZ argues.

“A) She would make millions of dollars by doing another season. B) If she does sign on, she knows she’s giving a clear sign to America she’s not running for President in 2012,” the e-zine says of the two most important considerations before agreeing to do another season of “Alaska.”

“We’re told Palin has made absolutely no public decision, nor has she informed the network. There have been no negotiations. For now it’s total radio silence,” TMZ writes.

I don't really want to see her on TV or in Politics..... I really wish that she would stay in Alaska and shut that great big trap of mouth that she has:)

This seems like a typical media story to pressure a politician, especially a conservative, to either appear greedy of money or of power. Shame on the organization for making such a nonsense claim. Palin, or any other leader, can choose to do both, as occurred in other previous cases. The fact is that Palin's show was more of an excellent advertisement for Alaska, and the rugged individualism of frontier life, and far less a political or personal push. It has prompted many in America to watch the channel she is on where they never bothered before, so it is great for the channel. It is great for promoting Alaska, and making it seem more integrated with the rest of USA. She should continue this valuable contribution to the unity and excitement of the country, and still make her own choice about the run for the Presidency. Don't box her or anyone in!
