Sarah O’Brien, the villainess on “Downton Abbey” is done: actress Siobhan Finneran has announced that she wouldn’t return to the successful television series for a fourth season, even though this might break fans’ hearts.

“I'm not doing any more. O'Brien is a thoroughly despicable human being – that was great to play,” the actress says in a short statement cited by the Daily Mail.

She doesn’t say what has made her reach this decision or whether she would ever consider returning to the series, if only for a cameo.

A spokesperson for “Downton Abbey” has also confirmed the news, noting that the writers will make sure not to close the door for good on O’Brien, in case the actress playing her might want to return.

In other words, she probably won’t be killed off.
