Actress insists deep down she’s just a regular mom

As anticipation is building for “SATC 2,” all Carrie Bradshaw fans will get to see their idol in the new romantic comedy “Did You Hear About the Morgans?,” starring Sarah Jessica Parker opposite British actor Hugh Grant. In order to promote this latest film, the actress sat down for a tell-all interview with the Daily Mail.

Though working simultaneously on various projects, SJP insists that, deep down inside, she is still a regular mom. Her focus is not and has never been fashion alone, as some of those who have made of her the hottest unlikely fashion icon to emerge in years seem to believe. Other than that, the actress is happy she still gets work, so she can do what she loves most, while also doing her best at being what she considers an ideal, loving mother to her and Matthew Broderick’s three children.

“I feel like I do it the same way, for better or worse, as any other working mother! At the moment the twins sleep a good six or seven hours, and wake up as late as 7am – they are being incredibly cooperative! Your children are your priority; you do everything you can to make sure they are content. And you get into bed at night thinking of all the things you did wrong, and you hope things will be better the next day. I think women tend to put more pressure on themselves to do everything exceptionally well, which is an impossibility. But most working mothers probably do a lot better than I do, with far less support than I have. So I don’t think that I’m any champion. I muddle through the best that I can,” Parker reveals in the interview.

Of course, being a mom doesn’t mean that she can’t still taste the joys of being an actress. Sarah Jessica Parker, as fans would known, never likes to be pinned down to the role in the HBO series alone, that of Carrie Bradshaw, though that’s not to say she’s not dying with anticipation for the second film in the series to come out. Speaking of her latest romantic comedy, the actress also reveals she had a blast working with Grant, even if they had to shoot on location in the country for a while – Parker being, by definition, the ultimate New York girl.

This being SJP that was interviewed, the question of her unique and innovative style also came up. “Fashion is not the focus of my life. I dress like a lot of mothers – quickly! – and hope to be presentable and not embarrass my son; honestly, that’s my only goal. I am sure I am a disappointment to many people, but not to my son. I will always love a beautiful dress, but I haven’t shopped in a really long time. I borrow clothes from designers for special events – it’s like the library, you return them in good faith, then you get to borrow more,” the actress says.
