While many of the actresses staring in famous series are left with a fright over being typecast, it seems that Sarah Jessica Parker has moved on. In her latest film, "The Family Stone", she is portraying a very 'not nice' character, Meredith Morton. The movie tells the story of a family whose tight bonds come undone as the eldest son brings home his girlfriend whom nobody likes, no other than former Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker. The curly blond hair is replaced with a pulled back bun, the fashionable outfits with dark suits, slacks and sweaters. And, most important, Carrie's personality, light and opened, is left behind as the new character enters the stage. The actress is talking about the differences between the two: "(Carrie) loved examining people and relationships. She loved this idea of human contact and looking and observing, and Meredith is completely the opposite. She would like not to be touched. She would like not to be hugged," she said. Meredith, despite being cold-hearted, is funny though. The producer explained why he chose Sarah Jessica Parker to play the part: "The movie lives or dies on how you feel about Meredith because she says and does things that are unsympathetic," London said. "We took advantage of the perception audiences had of Sarah and of the Carrie Bradshaw thing."
