Sarah Jessica Parker has been playing the part of a free-thinking, outspoken journalist for so long that many of us have trouble imagining her being shy when talking about anything that has to do with sex. However, the actress has repeatedly stated that she does not like to discuss intimate aspects with her friends and that she not comfortable with any kind of sex talk whatsoever. Parker was a guest on the Conan O'Brien show last night, where she promoted her new movie Smart People, and when the TV star brought up the topic of sex talk, the actress got slightly nervous and embarrassed herself, blushed and seemed uneasy discussing the topic even in general terms.
"I am not comfortable having any kind of intimate conversation at all… I don't like the tone and I don't like the subject. It's not like I think others who do it are morally corrupt and vulgar and crass. I'm just simply embarrassed," she revealed. "I don't even want to think about what they're talking about. And sometimes when I feel the landscape changes and all the heads move in, literally a friend will say 'Oh wait, Sarah Jessica's here' [...] and then they will talk about the primary or some other less ribald, salty, cheeky…," she added. Which again comes across as slightly strange, but at least we can safely cross her name off the list of celebrities who enjoy talking about they sex lives and sexual organs all over the media just for a spot of attention.
"People love the topic, people like to be intimate," she stated, adding that she's never tried to do anything to get over her shame and embarrassment at explicit sex talk. In today's world of shameless exhibitionism, where many wannabe celebrities use whatever means they have at their disposal - sex talk included - to shock and surprise, it's refreshing to think that the protagonist of a show whose title includes the word "Sex" actually feels ashamed when the subject is breached in real life. At least we won't be learning about the size and shape of Matthew Broderick's penis anytime soon - which again, is a refreshing thought.
