Over the weekend, British tabloid News of the World unveiled footage of the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson asking for £500,000 and pocketing $40,000 in advance for access to Prince Andrew, who is the UK Special Representative for Trade and Investment. After the damning images made it in newspapers all over the world, Ferguson reportedly offered to leave Andrew’s royal residence, the Daily Mail reports.

If her former husband agrees, that would leave her homeless, since it’s a known fact that the state of her finances does not allow her to pick up residence some other place, especially since she’s accustomed to a certain degree of comfort. On the other hand, the Mail points out, accepting the offer would put the Prince in a disagreeable position as well, since that would mean there’d be absolutely no controlling the Duchess outside of the royal circle – not that this has helped thus far.

“The Duchess of York has offered to quit Prince Andrew’s royal residence after she was exposed offering access to him for £500,000. The prince last night arrived back from a visit to Singapore for crisis talks with the Queen on how to minimize the damage. He faces a dilemma. If he accepts Sarah’s offer to move out, he has no idea where she will go or who will pay for her accommodation,” the Mail writes of the situation.

“There is also the risk that, outside the royal fold, she could be a loose cannon causing further mayhem. If she stays, he faces the humiliation of being under the same roof as a woman who has, not for the first time, brought shame on the Royal Family. His ‘penniless’ former wife was said to be ‘devastated and regretful’ after being secretly filmed by an undercover reporter posing as a businessman,” the same publication goes on to say.

As we also reported earlier today, Sarah Ferguson was filmed while asking for and accepting bribe from a reporter, while promising him in return that he’d be Prince Andrew’s friend and thus, privy to information that would otherwise not reach him. As of now, the Duchess has left the UK for the US (Los Angeles, to be more specific), while Buckingham Palace has yet to make a statement on the situation.
