Earlier than it was expected, Sprint just announced that it has started to offer the Sanyo Vero clamshell to its customers. Slated for a release on October 10th, the handset is getting an earlier market launch, which probably has something to do with the upcoming Windows Phone 7 launch, which was set around the same period.

Sanyo Vero is a low-budget clamshell which targets the senior and youth market. The handset seems to have a solid construction and a comfortable design.

Thanks to its easy-to-use keypad with large menu font options, users won't have any troubles texting or dialing.

The mobile phone comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA main display and a secondary monochrome display. It also sports a 1.3-megapixel camera with digital zoom lens and video recording capabilities.

Other key features of the clamshell includes: Web browsing with Google Search, Bluetooth connectivity, SMS threaded text messaging, Speakerphone, Multiple languages (English and limited Spanish).

Vero has been certified as Hearing Aid Compatible in accordance with applicable industry standards, and has a HAC rating of M4/T4 for hearing aids operating in the acoustic mode.

It measures 89 x 73.7 x 15.2mm and weighs 107.7g (including battery), which makes it pretty comfortable and easy to handle.

Sanyo Vero is powered by a 840mAh Li-Ion battery, which was rated by the carrier for up to 5 hours and 20 minutes of talk time.

Even though is not as remarkable as an Android device or a more expensive mobile phone, Sanyo Vero stands out from the crowd through its excellent ergonomics.

While the regular price of the handset is $209.99, Sanyo Vero is available from Sprint for as low as $9.99 with a qualifying plan and after rebates.

To qualify for the lowest price customers need to subscribe for a new line or eligible upgrade with a 2-year contract.
