Let's face it, although pretty cool to own projectors aren't the most power efficient devices available out there, so Sanyo put its thinking cap on and came up with the LP-XU4000 Eco-friendly projector that adjusts its brightness output in order to reduce power consumption with a maximum of 69%.

This new technology employed by Sanyo is called “intelligent light dimming system” and works by monitoring the projected image and automatically adjusting the light output to match the brightness of the image that is to be displayed while also offering a 2000:1 contrast ratio for an improved cinematic experience.

Furthermore, a "technical correction color shift" technology is also employed, so that Sanyo's projector can compensate the color shift that occurs when the lamp's output is reduced thus maintaining an accurate color reproduction.

All these power saving technologies can be turned on or off by the user, the LP-XU4000 featuring Auto, Normal and two Eco modes, the 245W high-output lamp used by this projector offering up to 4000 lumens brightness at its highest setting.

The improved power consumption also means that less stress is put on the enclosed lamp, so this technology will also increase the LP-XU4000's lamp life, Sanyo stating its projector can go up to 5,000 hours before requiring the lamp to be serviced.

Other features include a 10W speaker, microphone input, D-SUB, S-Video and RCA connectivity, an Ethernet port being also thrown into the mix by Sanyo as its projector can also be managed remotely from inside the local network.

A remote control is also bundled in the retail box, the LP-XU4000 coming with a native 1024×768 resolution so this is particularly well suited for office or educational use as it doesn't support a high enough resolution for home theater applications.

The environmentally-friendly LP-XU4000 is set to release on 21 February, 2011 in Japan for about $3847 US. (via AkihabaraNews)
