As was to be expected, Hurricane Sandy is also taking a hit on many East Coast television shows because, as The Washington Post puts it so brilliantly, “it’s TV, not the race to cure cancer.”

Among the shows canceled because of the bad weather are Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, and Jimmy Kimmel Live, which was supposed to air from Brooklyn for the first time in years.

The same media outlet reports that other TV shows are also feeling the wrath of Sandy, though no cancelation is involved for the time being.

Many shows shooting on the East Coast have called some time off until it was safe to start shooting again.

These are, as per the Post: ABC’s “666 Park Avenue,” CBS’s “Person of Interest,” “The Good Wife,” “Blue Bloods” and “Elementary”; Fox’s new Kevin Bacon serial killer thriller “The Following”; NBC series “30 Rock,” “Law & Order: SVU” and “Smash”; CW’s “Gossip Girl” and “The Carrie Diaries”; and Showtime’s “Nurse Jackie” and “The Big.”
