For months now, Jesse James has been dropping more or less subtle hints about ex-wife Sandra Bullock in interviews promoting his own projects. If he keeps it up, he will find himself slapped with a lawsuit for defamation, says a new report.

Shortly after the cheating scandal that eventually led to the demise of their marriage, Jesse was saying he still hoped he could somehow remain friends with Sandra, whom he still considered the most important woman in his life.

He seemed to have a change of heart afterwards, saying earlier this month that he married “some Hollywood actress” that turned him into a different man than he was, as we also informed you at the time.

Sandra has had enough of his disses and direct jabs, and she's determined to make him stop talking about her even if that means taking him to court and doing the dirty laundry in the public, Star magazine claims in its latest print edition (story via here).

At the moment, the Oscar-winning actress is weighing her legal options and is seriously considering filling a $20 million (€15.2 million) lawsuit against her ex, says an unnamed spy claiming to be close to Sandra.

“[She] has consistently taken the high road by never talking about Jesse since their split, I don’t expect her to play the shrinking violet forever if his jabs have secretly been causing her emotional distress,” the insider explains.

“Asking for $20 million in damages would not be out of the realm of possibility,” a legal expert tells Star.

“[She] has every right to initiate a defamation lawsuit against her ex husband if she believes that any of the public statements he’s made about her have been defamatory,” he adds.

“I imagine that even the prospect of legal action would lead his lawyer to counsel Mr. James to keep his thoughts about Ms. Bullock to himself,” says the expert.

However, this could also mean that, if Jesse stops talking about his ex from now on, he's in the clear.
