Now that she’s personally addressed the rumors by saying that she wasn’t romantically involved with best friend Ryan Reynolds, the tabloids are speculating on what precisely made Sandra Bullock not want to get his “lovin’ after dark.”

Life & Style magazine, for instance, believes that Sandra did have a thing with Ryan shortly after New Year’s but that she eventually chose not to get too involved.

Admittedly, the Oscar-winning actress realized she could not afford at the moment to invest too much into a relationship with a man, when what she really wanted to do was to focus 100 percent on her son Louis.

Therefore, she did not allow herself to fall too hard for Ryan and ended things before they got too serious.

“After starting the new year full of promise with actor Ryan Reynolds in her adopted hometown of Austin, Texas, Sandra has made the agonizing decision to sacrifice her own happiness so she can devote herself fully and selflessly to her beloved 1-year-old son, Louis,” Life & Style writes.

“Sandra’s rep confirmed the budding relationship between The Proposal co-stars was no more on Jan. 14, telling Life & Style Sandra and Ryan ‘are literally nothing except friends’,” the mag further writes.

Then, on the red carpet at the 2011 Golden Globes, Sandra herself said the same, assuring the media and women from all over the world that Ryan was not her “lovah” and that they were only good friends.

“It had seemed like a perfect match. […] But sadly, Sandra couldn’t follow her heart and let herself fall completely,” the magazine further says.

“Instead, Sandra seems to have decided to focus all of her love and attention on Louis – who’ll always be the No. 1 man in her life,” Life & Style adds.

An insider, who chooses to go anonymous, confirms that Ryan and Sandra were an item for a short while and that there was definitely a “spark” between them (that’s still there), but, for the time being, they’ve chosen to remain just friends.
