Former “The Sandlot” child star Tom Guiry has been arrested for assaulting a police officer in an airport. The actor was detained and jailed this last weekend.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the incident took place at roughly 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 3.

His woes began with him trying to board a plane at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. He appeared severely intoxicated and a United Airlines employee stopped him from getting on the plane.

“We're told Guiry was at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston over the weekend when a United Airlines employee concluded he was too drunk to fly,” TMZ reports.

The airport staffer called the police and Guiry was met by an officer who tried to explain the dangers of flying while drunk. He offered Guiry a break from an arrest.

“Law enforcement sources tell us, the employee contacted an airport cop, who approached Guiry and gave him two options: a public intoxication arrest, or the drunk tank,” TMZ writes.

Houston offers overnight sobering up centers or “drunk tanks,” and the option would have meant that 31-year-old Guiry would not have this on his record.

However, reports say that he has threatened the HPD officer before resisting arrest and attacking him.

“Guiry then made a terrible mistake – allegedly becoming belligerent and verbally abusive ... and even threatening the officer.”

“Guiry then allegedly tried kicking the cop in the face” and struck him with his head, the news outlet adds.

The policeman only incurred minor injuries and he was treated in the airport. Guiry was blurting out that he was a “celebrity” before being booked on a felony charge of assault on a police officer.

The actor played Scotty Smalls in the 1993 “The Sandlot” baseball flick, but also appeared in “Tigerland,” “Black Hawk Down,” and “Mystic River.”
