SanDisk has recently released a new firmware update for its Ultra+ SSDs. Version X231600 improves robustness of error handling and recovery as well as firmware download compatibility.

To update, download the SanDisk Toolbox 1.0.0.1 and install it. After you launch the application, go to “Firmware Updater” and select “Check for Updates.” The results should include the X231600.

Next, you will be asked if you prefer to create a CD/DVD or a bootable USB flash drive. I recommend using the second option simply because I always have a flash drive around. Bear in mind that this process removes all the data on the USB stick, so make a backup before starting the process.

When the firmware update flash drive is ready, restart your computer and make sure the first device in the boot sequence is the USB memory. This setting can be found in the BIOS.

Restart the system again and it will automatically boot into the SanDisk Firmware Updater. Select the drive you want to update from the list displayed and press “Enter” to continue. After the progress bar fills up, you will be prompted to shut down the computer.

Remove the USB disk when the system is off and the setup is complete. You can now power the computer back on and reset the desired device boot priority.

For those who have problems downloading the new firmware, I've added the iso files to the link below. There's one for every model of the Ultra+ SSD series. Make sure you get the one that corresponds to your model number.

To use it, create a bootable USB disk using the toolkit and proceed as mentioned above.

That being said, download the SanDisk Ultra+ SSD Firmware X231600, install it, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
